Hybrid engines don't run like conventional engines. They cycle on and off constantly, often never reaching full operating temperature. That means moisture accumulates inside the crankcase instead of burning off, fuel dilution increases from incomplete combustion, and oil sits stagnant for long stretches between engine engagements. A conventional 0W-20 motor oil isn't formulated to deal with any of that.

COMBATS CORROSION AND WATER CONTAMINATION
Every time a hybrid's ICE shuts down and the electric motor takes over, the engine cools. That cooling cycle pulls moisture from the air into the crankcase through condensation. Over time, this water accumulates and promotes rust on internal engine surfaces, particularly bearing journals, camshafts, and cylinder walls. When a hybrid engine engages mid-drive to assist the electric motor under heavy load, it needs oil flowing to bearings and the valvetrain immediately. Independent, third-party testing using the ASTM D5293 Cold-Cranking Simulator showed AMSOIL 0W-20 Hybrid Motor Oil achieved a viscosity of 5,476 cP compared to 6,517 cP for Mobil 1 0W-20 Hybrid Full Synthetic Motor Oil. That is up to 16% better low-temperature viscosity, which translates to faster oil flow at startup and quicker protection of critical components during cold engine engagement. The SAE J300 maximum limit for 0W-20 is 6,200 cP. Both oils pass, but AMSOIL provides significantly more margin.

SPECIFICATIONS AND COMPATIBILITY
AMSOIL 0W-20 100% Synthetic Hybrid Motor Oil meets or exceeds the following specifications: API SQ (Resource Conserving), API SP, API SN Plus, ILSAC GF-7A, ILSAC GF-6A, ILSAC GF-5, GM dexos1 Gen 3 (supersedes dexos1 Gen 2 and 6094M), Chrysler MS-6395, Ford WSS-M2C962-A1, and Ford WSS-M2C972-A1. It is compatible with other conventional and synthetic motor oils, though mixing will shorten the oil's life expectancy and reduce performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended.

SERVICE LIFE
Normal service: up to 15,000 miles or one year, whichever comes first, in personal vehicles not operating under severe service conditions. For severe service applications, follow the drain interval prescribed by your vehicle manufacturer in the owner's manual.
