AMSOIL ISO 22 100% Synthetic Anti-Wear Hydraulic Oil delivers reliable cold-weather hydraulic performance and long fluid life for mobile and stationary systems operating in temperature extremes. It is built for operators who run log splitters, dump trailers, skid steers, snowplows and other hydraulic equipment year-round and need a fluid that won't quit when the mercury drops.

Hydraulic systems face a brutal contradiction. In winter, conventional hydraulic oils thicken with wax, starving pumps of lubrication at startup and causing dangerous pressure spikes that can rupture hoses and blow seals. In summer, those same systems generate intense heat that breaks oil down into varnish and acid, degrading components from the inside out. A single fluid has to handle both extremes without compromise, and most petroleum-based ISO 22 hydraulic oils simply cannot.

IMMEDIATE COLD-WEATHER FLOW
AMSOIL Synthetic AW ISO 22 Hydraulic Oil contains no paraffin wax. Where conventional hydraulic fluids thicken and resist flow in sub-zero conditions, this synthetic formulation stays fluid with a pour point of -60°C (-76°F) per ASTM D97 testing. That means pumps, valves and bearings receive lubrication almost immediately at startup, even in deep cold. Operators running hydraulic equipment in northern climates, from snowplow systems to cold-storage facility lifts, get reliable function without sump heaters or extended warm-up cycles. The viscosity index of 257 (ASTM D2270) is far beyond what petroleum ISO 22 oils achieve, which is what allows the fluid to remain usable across a wide temperature range without excessive thinning at operating temperature.

ANTI-WEAR PROTECTION FOR HIGH-PRESSURE PUMPS
High-pressure gear, vane and piston pumps generate extreme localized loads that accelerate wear if the fluid can't maintain a protective film. AMSOIL AW ISO 22 contains a zinc-based anti-wear and antioxidant additive package specifically designed for these conditions. In ASTM D4172 Four-Ball Wear testing at 40 kg load, 1200 rpm and 75°C for 60 minutes, wear scar diameter measured just 0.35 mm. This formulation meets Denison HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2 specifications along with Vickers M-2950-S and I-286-S requirements, covering the pump types most commonly found in mobile and industrial hydraulic circuits.

RESISTS OXIDATION AND VARNISH BUILDUP
Heat is the primary driver of hydraulic oil degradation. As fluid oxidizes, it forms acids that corrode internal surfaces and varnish that clogs valves and restricts flow. AMSOIL Synthetic AW Series Oil uses naturally resilient synthetic base stocks combined with potent antioxidant additives to resist chemical breakdown under sustained high temperatures. The flash point of 163°C (325°F) per ASTM D92 reflects the thermal stability of the base oil itself. Cleaner hydraulic systems translate directly to fewer stuck valves, less filter plugging and longer intervals between fluid changes.

FOAM AND WATER SEPARATION
Foam in hydraulic fluid causes spongy, erratic operation and accelerates oxidation by increasing the oil's exposure to air. AMSOIL AW ISO 22 passes all three sequences of ASTM D892 foam testing with 0/0 results at test end, meaning virtually no foam tendency or stability. The oil also separates cleanly from water, achieving full 40/40/0 demulsibility in just 10 minutes per ASTM D1401. This rapid water separation prevents emulsions that degrade lubrication and allows moisture to be drained from the sump before it causes rust or corrosion. Rust protection is confirmed by passing both fresh water and synthetic sea water sequences of ASTM D665 A and B.

SPECIFICATIONS AND COMPATIBILITY
AMSOIL ISO 22 Synthetic Anti-Wear Hydraulic Oil is recommended where the following specifications are called for: Denison HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2; Vickers M-2950-S and I-286-S; Cincinnati Milacron P-68; U.S. Steel 127 and 136; DIN 51524 Part 2; AFNOR E 48-603; Ford M6C-32; GM LH-04-1, LH-06-1 and LH-15-1; Lee Norse 100-1; Jeffrey No. 87; BF Goodrich 0152; and Racine variable volume vane pumps. It is compatible with hydraulic system seals, petroleum hydraulic oils and most synthetic hydraulic oils. It is not compatible with phosphate ester, silicone or water-based fluids. For optimum results, drain the system thoroughly and clean it if warranted before filling.

SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL Synthetic AW Series Hydraulic Oil is designed for extended drain intervals beyond what petroleum hydraulic fluids can achieve. Oil analysis is recommended to determine the optimal change interval for your specific system and operating conditions, as duty cycles, contamination exposure and operating temperatures vary widely between applications.
