Modern automatic transmissions pack more gears, tighter tolerances, and higher torque loads into smaller housings than ever before. That combination generates enormous heat. And heat is what kills transmission fluid, turning it into a sludge-producing, shift-degrading liability. Vehicles used for towing, hauling, stop-and-go driving, or anything the manufacturer calls "severe service" push fluid past its limits far sooner than most owners expect. The result is varnished valve bodies, glazed clutch packs, and sluggish shifts that signal expensive problems ahead.

RESERVE PROTECTION AGAINST HEAT AFTER 180,000 MILES
AMSOIL put this fluid to the test in Las Vegas taxi cabs, one of the most punishing severe-service environments imaginable. Stop-and-go driving, full passenger loads, and extreme desert ambient temperatures, day after day. After 180,000 miles, an independent lab performed the Aluminum Beaker Oxidation Test (ABOT) on the used fluid. The result: Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF still resisted oxidation longer than new Chrysler ATF+4 fluid is required to in order to meet its own specification. The transmission's valve body was clean and virtually sludge-free, and the clutch plates earned a rating of "good," the highest possible score for deterioration and wear. Fluid analysis also confirmed that 83 percent of the original oxidation inhibitors were still present after those 180,000 severe-service miles.

OUTSTANDING WEAR PROTECTION UNDER EXTREME LOADS
Varying speeds and loads create torque multiplication that hammers gears and bearings. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is formulated with high film strength and premium anti-wear and extreme-pressure additives to handle that punishment. In the industry-standard FZG Gear Wear Test, fluid that had already been used for 180,000 severe-service miles achieved a "Pass" at stage 12, the highest stage. That result exceeded the Ford MERCON V and Chrysler ATF+4 specifications for brand-new fluid. Used fluid outperforming new-fluid specs is a direct reflection of the additive chemistry holding up over time.

COLD-TEMPERATURE FLUIDITY
Cold, thick transmission fluid delays shifts and wastes fuel. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is wax-free, with a pour point of -53°C (-63°F) and a Brookfield viscosity of 9,755 cP at -40°C. It flows quickly on cold starts to improve shift response, reduce warm-up times, and protect components that would otherwise operate briefly without adequate lubrication. For drivers in northern climates or anyone who parks outside overnight, this translates to smoother morning shifts and less strain on the transmission during the critical first minutes of operation.

FRICTION DURABILITY THAT ELIMINATES SHUDDER
Torque converter shudder is one of the most common complaints in late-model trucks and SUVs, particularly in GM 6L80, 8L90, and Ford 6R80 and 10R80 transmissions. The root cause is often degraded friction modifiers in the ATF. Signature Series Synthetic ATF is formulated with friction modifier additives that deliver consistent clutch-holding capacity (static friction), torque-transfer ability (dynamic friction), and anti-shudder performance for slipping torque converter clutches. After 180,000 miles in severe service, analysis showed friction properties nearly identical to new fluid. That kind of stability over time is what keeps shifts smooth and predictable in high-mileage transmissions.

This is a true multi-vehicle synthetic ATF with one of the broadest application lists available. It is backward compatible with older GM transmissions requiring DEXRON III (the DEXRON VI specification supersedes DEXRON III). It is also suitable for Toyota CVT applications calling for the Toyota WS specification.

SERVICE LIFE
Normal Service: Follow the vehicle manufacturer's normal-service drain interval.

Severe Service: Double the vehicle manufacturer's severe-service drain interval in passenger cars and light trucks.
