AMSOIL 5W-30 100% Synthetic Small-Engine Oil delivers commercial-grade protection specifically engineered for the punishing conditions small engines face. It keeps generators, snowblowers, power washers and other equipment running dependably for up to 200 hours or one year between oil changes.

Small engines don't have it easy. Compared to liquid-cooled automotive engines, they run hotter, operate under constant or near-constant load, and often go far too long between oil changes. Dirt, rain, snow and other contaminants compound the problem. Despite all of this, many so-called small-engine oils are simply relabeled automotive formulations designed around fuel economy rather than durability. That mismatch leads to accelerated wear, carbon buildup, stuck rings and premature power loss.

EXCELLENT WEAR PROTECTION
AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Small-Engine Oil uses a shear-stable, high-film-strength formulation fortified with anti-wear additives. It does not thin out under mechanical stress the way many conventional and lower-quality synthetic oils do. In Four-Ball Wear Testing per ASTM D4172B, the 5W-30 formulation produced a wear scar of just 0.47 mm. That consistent film strength translates directly to less metal-to-metal contact in critical areas like piston rings, cylinder walls and valve trains, especially during cold starts on a Honda generator or a Briggs & Stratton snowblower when oil hasn't fully circulated yet.

Oil consumption is one of the most common complaints with small engines. Low oil levels lead to oil starvation, overheating and catastrophic failure. In 125-hour lab tests, AMSOIL 10W-30 Synthetic Small-Engine Oil reduced oil consumption 61% compared to three leading 10W-30/SAE 30 motor oils. The 5W-30 formulation shares the same heat-resistant synthetic base oil technology, with a Noack Volatility of just 7.9% weight loss per ASTM D5800. Lower volatility means less oil burns off as vapor, so your equipment runs longer between top-offs. If you run a Generac or Champion standby generator during extended power outages, that reduced consumption provides real peace of mind.

FORMULATED TO PRESERVE POWER
Carbon deposits, ring sticking and valve sticking all rob small engines of compression and power output over time. AMSOIL Synthetic Small-Engine Oil's potent detergent additives fight carbon, varnish and sludge formation, keeping pistons and rings clean. Severe-service testing in a Kawasaki FX 730 V engine showed pistons and rings virtually free of deposits and wear after 500 hours. Clean rings maintain proper seal against the cylinder wall, preserving compression and helping engines produce maximum power throughout their service life.

EXTREME-TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE
The 5W-30 viscosity grade flows readily in cold weather, with a pour point of -44°C (-47°F) and a Cold Cranking Simulator viscosity of 4,355 cP at -30°C. That means easier cold-weather starts and faster oil circulation on a snowblower in January or a generator during a winter storm. On the other end of the spectrum, a flash point of 238°C (460°F) and a high viscosity index of 171 confirm strong thermal stability under sustained high-temperature operation. The saturated molecular structure of the synthetic base oils resists oxidation and breakdown far better than conventional oils.

SPECIFICATIONS AND COMPATIBILITY
AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Small-Engine Oil meets API SL, SJ, SH and SG specifications for gasoline engines, API CD and CF for off-road diesel engines, and JASO MA/MA2 wet-clutch standards. It contains no friction modifiers, which helps prevent misapplication in equipment with wet clutches. Use it in applications calling for SAE 30 or 5W-30 motor oil, including equipment made by Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kohler, Champion, Generac, Toro, Ariens, Troy-Bilt, John Deere, MTD and Husqvarna. It is compatible with other synthetic and conventional motor oils, though mixing oils will shorten the extended drain interval and reduce performance benefits. Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended.

SERVICE LIFE
AMSOIL 5W-30 Synthetic Small-Engine Oil provides service life of up to 200 hours or one year, whichever comes first.
