The formulation also resists acid formation, keeping internal components clean and free from corrosive byproducts that degrade seals and gear surfaces.

AMSOIL 80W-140 Long Life Synthetic Gear Lube meets API GL-5 and MT-1, MIL-PRF-2105E, Dana SHAES 234 (formerly Eaton PS-037) for 250,000 miles, Dana SHAES 256 (formerly Eaton PS-163) for 500,000 miles, Dana SHAES 429A, Mack GO-J and GO-J+, and Meritor 0-80. It also satisfies hypoid gear oil specifications from ZF TE-ML 07A and 08 for foreign and domestic manufacturers including GM, Ford, and Daimler Chrysler. It replaces competitors' 80W-140 and 85W-140 viscosity grades. Compatible with most limited-slip differentials. If chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip-Lock friction modifier additive. It can also be used in rear axles where API GL-4 lubricant is recommended.

SERVICE LIFE
For cars, SUVs, and light trucks under normal service, drain at 100,000 miles or according to the owner's manual, whichever is longer. Under severe service, drain at 50,000 miles or per the owner's manual, whichever is longer. For heavy-duty Class 8 line haul, follow the OEM drain interval up to 500,000 miles or five years, whichever comes first. Vocational and delivery applications support up to 120,000 miles or three years. Heavy-duty off-road applications support up to 100,000 miles or two years. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where water contamination occurs.
